Tithing by Faith: Reaping Divine Blessings
By Lorraine Dieterle
I love something Wendy Nelson said in a BYU devotional:
“Consider President George Q. Cannon’s approach to tithing when he was an impoverished young man. When his bishop commented on the large amount of tithing poor young George was paying, George said something like: “Oh bishop, I’m not paying tithing on what I make.I’m paying tithing on what I want to make.” And the very next year George earned exactly the amount of money he had paid tithing on the year before!”
I have a testimony of this principle of Faith and Tithing. I tried this experiment two separate times with the Lord. I paid tithing all year on the amount I wanted to make – and the very next year, I made that exact amount of money.
I love learning from our Leaders and finding their examples that we can follow in our own lives. What a great time to be a member of the Church! I’m thankful for the continued Restoration and the chance we all have to do our part! Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to succeed – His Gospel gives us all that we need to succeed in this life, and to return to Him. I bear my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
